Gorges de la Nesque
This kinder, gentler next door neighbor to the crushing Mt. Ventoux is manageable by any cyclist. The route climbs ever so gently from Ville sur Auzon, so gently you'll be shocked at the heights you eventually reach.
The road is a classic in the canon of Provence cycling routes – sinuous and almost car free, with tantalizing sheer drops into the gorge that runs along side and through tunnels cut out of the cliff face.
The full route takes you over the summit, down to Sault and back up again and home via an alternate road.
The gentler Recreational route stops just past Monieux (a good spot for a coffee break or sandwich), at the lookout point and then turns around and tears back down hill.
